Welcome! I am a psychotherapist dedicated to helping people improve their lives by taking better care of themselves and their relationships. I have many years of experience working with anxiety, depression, eating problems of all kinds (binge-eating, anorexia, bulimia), behavioral disorders and distressed couples.
I bring many years of training and practice, integrating the comprehensive approach of my social work background and the developmental perspective of my psychology program with my continuing study of psychotherapy, mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Couples therapy and mind/body health. I offer active collaboration and adapt to the needs and goals of each individual, couple or family.
Early in my career I worked at The Renfrew Center with the full spectrum of eating problems from anorexia and bulimia to overeating and other food/weight/body image issues. In my 17 years on the staff, I served as an individual, family and group therapist in residential, IOP and outpatient treatment. There I learned the importance of addressing both mind and body in the recovery process and witnessed the healing power of relationships.
For over 20 years I have been an outpatient therapist helping men, women, couples, teens and families to take better care of themselves and each other. Recognizing the central influence of relationship issues as a source of distress when unhappy and a key resource when functioning well, I have begun to specialize in couple and family therapy using the evidence-based Emotionally Focused Therapy model.
I was a founding member of the board of the Philadelphia Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, which trains mental health professionals in attachment based psychotherapy and a co-creator of Philadelphia Couples Workshops offering classes and workshops to the community. I served for ten years.
